Why Ekobé School of Learning?

Ekobé School of Learning

Reggio Emilia Inspired Education

Inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy of early childhood education, Ekobé School of Learning embraces this concept because it fosters independence, self-help skills, and creativity.

The Reggio Emilia approach offers a way for teachers to harness their young charges’ natural curiosity and creativity by encouraging them to work on projects that interest them.

Parents are also encouraged to be actively involved in all aspects of the school and their child’s learning.

At the heart of this system is the powerful image of the child. Reggio educators see children as full of potential, competent and capable of building their own theories.

GREAT FACILITIES

GREAT FACILITIES

Ekobé School of Learning is much more than a child care facility.

ATELIERISTA & the ART STUDIO

ATELIERISTA & the ART STUDIO

The Art Studio is a place where the unexpected is expected. It is a place for children to experiment and explore different tools and materials. It allows them to be creative and explore sensory skills. Students are given opportunities to partake in art exploring with mediums of painting, sculptures, natural materials, and more.

TEACHER/STUDENT RATIOS

TEACHER/STUDENT RATIOS

Teacher to student ratios are very important to us. We strive to maintain child to teacher ratios lower than those required by the State of California licensing.

ACTIVITIES

ACTIVITIES

Working to meet each child’s emotional, social, cognitive, and physical needs, Ekobé School of Learning provides daily activities that are fashioned to facilitate transition from one developmental stage to the next. These include activities in art, music, math, language, science, dramatic play, fine and gross motor development.

You can view the Google Map above, or visit our Contact Page to get more information on our address, hours, facility number, and more.

How Is Ekobé Different From Other San Diego Preschools?

We are a one-of-a-kind choice for many families, as our preschool in Clairemont, San Diego is the only preschool in San Diego to offer a Portuguese language program (in addition to Spanish), and we offer the only bilingual preschool (trilingual actually!) with a Reggio Emilia preschool approach as well. Beyond that, we are proud to employ top-notch staff who are passionate about early education, shaping young lives, and directing exceptional experiences at our newly constructed preschool in Clairemont.

What Does a Typical Preschool Day Look Like At Ekobé?

Our preschool day begins with a transitional arrival period, fostering essential social and interactive skills. A discovery and exploration session comes next and involves free exploration in provocation centers, encompassing arts-related activities in small groups or as a whole class. A community meeting allows children to collectively share thoughts, questions, and expectations, shaping the curriculum for the day. Outdoor, active learning develops large motor skills through outdoor activities. Snack time and lunchtime (with hand washing before both activities) promote nutritious eating in a communal setting. Rest time is nurtured with soft music and dimmed lights, followed by cozy time, with book reading as a gentle post-nap ritual. Afternoon play empowers children to decide upon their own activities. Finally, the dismissal routine involves gathering belongings and bidding farewell to peers and teachers. You can learn more here about what children learn in preschool.

What is the Typical Investment for Preschool in San Diego?

Annual preschool expenses typically range from $15,000-$18,000 a year. The final tuition amount will depend on how many days you bring your child to preschool each week. You can learn more here about how much preschool costs in San Diego.
